Imagine this:
You’re driving your car to work in snowy Chicago weather when you see three people on the side of the road at an uncovered bus stop. All are covered in snow, possibly freezing, but still awaiting for the bus to take them to their destination. You quickly recognize one as your best friend eager to go to work, the second is an elderly woman freezing cold, shivering, and in hopes to reach the hospital as soon as possible. The third is the perfect person, well at least for you, deep inside you know that they are the one. You know that if you met him/her you would eventually get married and live as happily as it gets. The problem is that you only have one extra seat in your car, so who do you give a ride to?

The old woman.
My best friend is likely my age and will understand; the person of my dreams will likely end up in my life later on because what's meant to be will be.
The old woman is in need of pseudo immediate attention [though this is based on the only assumptions given in this argument concerning the 3 people standing at the bus stop] and everyone else will at least survive.
But the older lady already lived her life, don't you think... what if you miss your chance to live yours with that special someone?
You loan the car to your best friend so he can get to work and let him drop the old lady off at the hospital. You stay at the bus stop with the your dream girl.
